Category Manager

We are looking for a skilled Category Manager to join our Merchandise team at The Reject Shop. This individual will be responsible for delivering a profitable category while driving and developing key supplier relationships and executing the customer-centric category strategy.
The role involves building and developing strategies to ensure great quality, value, and experience to our customers. Additionally, the Category Manager will drive simple, consistent, and efficient processes, achieve our Low-Cost model, and grow profitable sales for the portfolio by winning customers with a market-leading proposition.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in retail buying, preferably within FMCG, and strong negotiation skills with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers. They will also possess an analytical mindset, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and develop a strategy to ensure great quality, value, and experience to our customers
- Drive simple, consistent, and efficient processes
- Achieve our Low-Cost model
- Grow profitable sales for the portfolio by winning customers with a market-leading proposition
- Develop a customer-centric category vision through a strategic approach to deliver the Product and Price directive
- Lead category transformation
- Drive sales performance in line with budget forecasts and LY
- Remove all duplication and range fringe to deliver the simplest customer proposition
- Delivery of KPI's of sales and profit to budget
- Bring innovative new concepts to the category
- Develop supplier negotiations and lead negotiations
- Ensure all products are purchased in line with Australian quality standards
- Achieve markdowns, stock turns, and fast turning inventory
What You Can Bring to the Role:
- Proven experience in retail buying, preferably within FMCG
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Results-driven and proactive, with a passion for delivering value to customers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications
