About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team at Sedgman Onyx, a part of the Cimic Group. As an Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for developing detailed electrical designs, models, drawings, and specifications in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed electrical designs, models, drawings, and specifications in accordance with industry standards and project specifications
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other disciplines to understand project requirements and objectives
  • Contribute technical and design assistance to provide engineering design solutions in consultation with Lead Drafter or Lead Engineer
  • Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safe design practices
  • Ensure drafting and review processes are completed. Review drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sedgman Onyx Standards. Execute checking of design drawings and participate in squad checks as directed
  • Compete work in accordance with cost and schedule, and ensure project and client expectations are met
  • Support the continuous improvement of design systems used by the organisation and investigate new drafting techniques and drafting equipment and recommend changes to standard practices
  • Attend site where required to as build and support construction projects
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical design within the mining or heavy industrial sector, with a focus on iron ore projects
  • Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Electrical trade background
  • Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software for electrical design and drafting
  • Experience with power distribution systems, motor starters, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the mining industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and deliverables
