Talent Insights is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team on a 9-month contract basis. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, with one day spent in the Sydney CBD and four days working from home.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development, with guidance provided by our leading Data Science and Machine Learning Manager. You will have access to the latest tools and technologies, including APIs, BigQuery, GCP, Docker, Python, and SQL.

Main responsibilities include building and optimizing data pipelines, collaborating with data scientists on Large Language Model (LLM) and generative AI projects, and developing data foundations and quality checks.

Key requirements for the position include:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • At least one to two years of experience as a Data Engineer or Machine Learning Engineer
  • Hands-on experience building APIs for data ingestion
  • Intermediate skills in SQL, Python, and data pipeline development
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and Docker
  • Experience with cloud platforms and data warehouses, preferably BigQuery
  • Bonus points for any experience using LLMs like OpenAI or Claude

This is a rare opportunity for junior Data Engineers or ML Engineers to work with experienced mentors on an exciting project with a prominent Australian retailer.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $60-$75 per hour, including superannuation. While this is a temporary position, there is potential for longer-term or permanent work based on performance and skill level.
