The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Compliance Specialist to join our team in the Department of Education.
This role is responsible for supporting the administration of the department's funding governance model to schools, ensuring compliance with key policies and legislative requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capability, experience and expertise in managing compliance, governance and assurance monitoring and reporting processes, and in ensuring financial policies, procedures, activities reflect and comply with legislative and departmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Support the administration of the department's funding governance model to schools, ensuring compliance with key policies and legislative requirements.
- Coordinate annual attestation processes (for both the department and schools), aiding systems implementation and management, as well as maintaining the department's financial and internal control frameworks.
- Assist the Manager, Financial Compliance with the team's management in meeting financial management and taxation compliance requirements.
- Maintain key linkages with relevant central agencies, other departments and portfolio entities, and within the department and schools to achieve a high level of support in the oversight, monitoring and compliance with the Government's financial management policies and funding governance model.
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent, membership with CPA, CA or equivalent and relevant and transferrable experience, knowledge and skills in financial compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical field, Mathematics, IT, Engineering or Science is desirable.
The Department of Education is responsible for supporting Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
The Financial Services Division is responsible for designing and implementing financial management principles, processes and systems to ensure that managers have the necessary support to execute their financial management responsibilities.
The Division operates on three levels to fulfil its responsibilities:
- Strategic to support decision making
- Control, assurance and governance to ensure compliance with legislation and standards
- Operational to provide functional support and service delivery
The Division has a key role in supporting the second line of defence through its oversight functions.
