About the Role

  • As a Technical Specialist in our perioperative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our theatre instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instrumentation Management: You will be responsible for thermal disinfection inspection, packaging and sterilising of all instrumentation for theatre and other clinical areas, adhering to AS/NZ standards 4187 2014 and GENCA guidelines.
  • Machinery Operation and Maintenance: You will operate, interpret and document all machinery operational requirements, ensuring seamless integration with our tracking systems.
  • Quality Assurance: You will report and document all quality activities, maintaining exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Instrument Prioritization: You will ensure priority of instrumentation and processes, driving efficiency and productivity in our theatre environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Sound Knowledge of AS/NZ Standards: You must have a solid understanding of AS/NZ 4187 2014 and its application in the perioperative setting.
  • Demonstrated Instrumentation Knowledge: You should possess experience working with various types of instrumentation and have a proven track record of effective management.
  • Tracking System Experience: Familiarity with tracking systems is essential for this role, as you will be responsible for accurately managing and documenting instrumentation.
  • Endoscopy Reprocessing Experience: While not mandatory, experience in endoscopy reprocessing or a willingness to learn is highly desirable.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, management and patients, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational and Attention to Detail: As a Technical Specialist, you will need to maintain exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation and seamless operations.
  • Intermediate Computer Literacy: You should possess intermediate computer literacy skills, including proficiency in MS Office and data base management.
  • Interest in Promoting Best Practice: A genuine interest in promoting best practice patient care is essential, as you will be part of a dynamic team committed to delivering high-quality care.

Salary Range

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $28.41 to $34.37 per hour, plus superannuation. This reflects the level of responsibility, expertise and dedication required for this critical role within our perioperative team.
