Supervising Psychologist (Forensic) Role

The University of New South Wales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Psychologist (Forensic) to contribute to the supervision and training of provisional psychologists at the UNSW Forensic Psychology clinic in Surry Hills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group supervision of Master of Psychology program students, fostering their growth and development in a supportive and challenging environment.
  • Manage learning and evaluate development of provisional psychologists by observing, guiding, and providing constructive feedback on their interactions with clients.
  • Develop and implement learning opportunities and training support to enhance the skills and knowledge of provisional psychologists.
  • Maintain a client caseload and/or oversee the caseloads of provisional psychologists, ensuring high-quality care and services.
  • Participate in and conduct educational activities, contributing to the development of the clinic's educational programs and resources.
  • Provide feedback to the Clinic Director regarding the clinic's effectiveness and provisional psychologist performance, informing strategic decisions and improvements.
  • Coordinate and carry out office administration, including placement coordination into external placement sites, ensuring seamless operations and efficient workflows.
  • Develop and maintain clinic protocols and resources, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university, prioritizing the well-being and safety of staff and clients.
Requirements:
  • Registered psychologist with AHPRA with endorsement in an applicable field of psychology, such as Forensic or Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Board-approved supervisor with demonstrated post-qualification clinical experience, showcasing expertise and leadership in the field.
  • Strong psychology skills with respect to cultural consideration of clients, risk assessment, and clinical intervention with a variety of client presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially in relation to provision of effective feedback, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, manage competing demands, and work autonomously and independently.

This is a three-day per week (7 hours per day) role, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of provisional psychologists while advancing your own career and expertise.
