Biodiversity Assessment Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biodiversity Assessment Expert to join our team. As a key member of our environmental consultancy, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality biodiversity assessments under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS).

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver biodiversity assessments under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS), ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare comprehensive BAM reports, shape offset strategies, and guide clients through BOS requirements.
  • Manage or support field surveys, stakeholder engagement, and client relationships to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to our strong technical excellence, sharing your expertise and knowledge with others.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Hold BAM Assessor accreditation under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
  • Have strong NSW field botany and/or fauna identification skills, as well as solid knowledge of threatened species and ecological communities.
  • Be proficient in NSW vegetation classification, flora/fauna survey methods, and spatial mapping.
  • Have experience with long-term monitoring projects and working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
  • Be able to prepare high-quality environmental assessments and management plans, with a passion for collaborative science and purpose-driven consulting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is experience in offset site assessments or credit trading, and previous consulting experience.
  • A desire to mentor and share knowledge with others is also highly valued.
