Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Translation Specialist / Linguistics Expert to join our team at Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating Bible translation and language development projects in West Asia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Culture and Language Acquisition: Develop a deep understanding of the local culture and language to effectively relate with the community.
  • Project Coordination: Manage and coordinate projects in Bible translation and/or language development, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Assist in the training of local co-workers and partners in the community, enhancing their skills and knowledge in language development and Bible translation.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute to the impact of the work in-country as a whole, working closely with a wider team to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
  • Theological Foundation: Possess a strong love for the Word of God and a desire to share it with those who have not yet heard the Gospel in their own language.
  • Professional Qualifications: Hold theological training and/or relevant certifications in Bible translation and language development.
Language and Culture Training
  • Language Training: Complete one year of language training at SIL Australia.
  • Orientation Workshops: Attend orientation workshops held at our National Centre in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria.
