Substation Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Designer to join our team at Essential Energy. As a pivotal player in the energy future of NSW and the country, we cover 95% of NSW and parts of southern QLD.
Key Responsibilities- Complete, implement and manage the delivery of design work packets, including design, drafting and review of designs to achieve maximum commercial and technical performance.
- Complete investigations and preliminary designs to be included in project scoping documentation.
- Responsible for the coordination of engineering surveys as required to obtain relevant data to complete detailed designs.
- Prepare design cost estimates to assist with the implementation and monitoring of strategic expenditure programs.
- Provide mentoring, training and development to other team members as required.
- Contract manage external design consultants to deliver fit for purpose cost effective designs.
To be successful in this position, you will possess:
- Capability to thrive in a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- A willingness to learn new skills, share your knowledge and mentor team members.
- Extensive experience in a similar role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry.
- Complete knowledge and application of current overhead and underground design philosophies, procedures, Australian standards and statutory requirements including Safety in Design.
- Demonstrated experience in utilising analytical skills and technical knowledge to provide appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to produce quality work.
- Strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing technology and drive continuous improvement.
- Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Cert.
- Driver's Licence.
- Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation Access.
We offer competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience. Salary from $128, including 16% Super + allowance on a 9-day fortnight.
