The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Strategy and Business Development to contribute to the growth of our Australia Defence and Security Solutions (ADSS) business.

This role focuses on driving business excellence and revenue growth by leading a team of Business Development and Capture professionals.

You will leverage your significant business experience to identify opportunities, develop strategies, strengthen customer relationships, and collaborate to implement organic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business Development and Capture teams to drive growth and strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies, assessing existing, adjacent, and potential new markets.
  • Manage resources effectively to identify and pursue strategic opportunities and organic growth initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain awards and captures processes throughout the Business Development Lifecycle.
  • Engage with customers to enhance relationships and act as a senior leader, demonstrating commercial acumen and emotional intelligence.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Tertiary qualification in a technical field or business, marketing, or other Defence-relevant area.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a leadership role in a Defence business focused on growth functions like strategy, business development, or capture.
  • Deep understanding of Australian Defence acquisition and capability lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, develop business plans, identify new markets, lead teams, manage risk, and financial outcomes.
  • Exceptional networking and communication skills, along with financial and commercial acumen.
  • Refined business development and commercial acumen to help develop winning responses and identify risks in proposed solutions.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
