Mineco Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil/Mining Estimator to join our team in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supporting our mining operations based out of our Newcastle offices.
Key Responsibilities- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work, materials required, and construction methods to be used.
- Analyze project costs and prepare a detailed estimate of the cost of materials, labor, and equipment required for the project.
- Create a breakdown of the project costs by itemizing and calculating the individual expenses such as permits, transportation, and supervision.
- Prepare and submit bids and proposals to management and clients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to obtain the best pricing and services for our company.
- Prepare and present reports to management, clients, or contractors regarding estimates, budgets, and timelines.
- Ensure that a consistent approach is applied to estimating tasks using company standard software.
- Review and analyze historical project data to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
- Site visits as required to gain a thorough understanding of local conditions.
- Remain up-to-date with industry trends, construction costs, and new technologies that may affect construction projects.
- Communicating, advising, and presenting confidently.
- Being flexible and adaptive in the execution of your day-to-day duties.
- Ongoing technical development of processes and practices within the organization.
- Ensuring compliance to legislative requirements and site standards.
- Tendering for new projects inclusive of site optimization initiatives.
- Innovating and proposing creative solutions using your knowledge and experience.
- Bachelor of Civil/Mining Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years proven experience in a similar role.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Experience with modern mine design and mine scheduling software desirable.
- Exposure to civil earthworks design and construct on open-cut mine projects in Australia.
- Vulcan &/Or Spry Experience preferable.
- Ability to develop and run a program with high-level detailed planning.
- A detailed understanding of methods, productivity rates, budget processes, costs, and margins.
- Proven experience in preparing and reviewing cost estimates and technical proposals for tender submissions within the scope of appropriate drawings, specifications, quantities, and cost data.
- Develop quantities from design documentation and develop resource schedules and preliminary tender programs.
- Strong understanding of OH&S, Environmental, and Quality.
- Competent computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project, and estimating software).
- Strong attention to detail and technical excellence with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Living within the Hunter Valley/Newcastle area or willing to relocate as required.
- A good knowledge of the Hunter Valley market.
