About the Role

Public Sector People is currently seeking an experienced Building Assets and Projects Officer to join our local government client's Asset team. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing Council's building assets, including preparation of asset management plans, building maintenance inspections, and managing capital works projects.

About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Asset Engineer with a strong background in Building construction and asset management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project management and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of asset management plans and building maintenance inspections.
  • Managing capital works projects, including tendering.
  • Overseeing a range of Council assets, including depots, offices, community centres, sporting facilities, commercial premises, restaurants, kiosks, and a function centre.
  • Developing and implementing sustainable building practices.
  • Managing stakeholders and contractors to achieve project objectives.
  • High-level report writing and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in budget planning and cost control.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Construction, Facilities Management, or Buildings Asset Management.
  • Extensive practical experience in asset management and construction project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in sustainable building practices and stakeholder management.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Class C Driver's Licence and commitment to WHS and EEO principles.
