About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care to our laboratory animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily animal checks, ensuring their health and well-being.
  • Conduct nutritional and palatability tests according to established procedures.
  • Record data accurately and reliably, as outlined by project scientists.
  • Organize incoming food for trials and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Provide daily food, water, cleaning, and interaction with animals, including grooming and routine husbandry as needed.
  • Obtain animal body weights and Body Condition Scoring (BCS) as required.
  • Implement socialization programs for animals and observe their behavior, interactions with people, and one another.
  • Assist with care of puppies or kittens and monitor their growth as needed.
  • Maintain accurate animal records and report any signs of illness or unusual behavior.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in handling dogs and cats.
  • Certificate in Animal Studies (at minimum).
  • Proven work experience in animal science, veterinary technology, or animal handling, grooming, or behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy and good literacy and numeracy skills.
