Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Education Support Officer to join our team at the State Government of Victoria, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing attendance, enrolments, and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage attendance of students across all year levels, ensuring accurate data is maintained and absences are followed up using established procedures.
  • Manage new enrolments, including liaising with prospective families, organizing timetables and classes, and informing relevant staff of new students.
  • Ensure compliance with the enrolment placement policy of the Department of Education and the organization.
  • Review and update the organization's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System documents, policies, and processes to ensure alignment with current Department of Education OHS management systems, policies, and requirements.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks to health and safety, and manage Department and organization OHS risk registers.
  • Respond to OHS alerts/queries and provide advice to staff on managing OHS hazards.
  • Manage and complete OHS and emergency management planning tasks, including convening the organization's Safety Committee.
  • Identify, assess, control, monitor, and prioritize OHS risks using the template OHS risk register and OHS activities calendar.
  • Manage and implement Contractor and Volunteer OHS induction and processes using the organization's management system.
  • Review and update all relevant organization policies as required.
  • Supervise small groups of students as needed.
  • Administer data entry, word processing, reception, and enquiry services, maintaining office systems and other administrative records.
  • Liaise with and provide information to parents, staff, and students within the organization.
  • Perform a range of administrative and support duties for the Executive team.
Requirements
  • Individuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to a wide range of people in a school environment.
  • Proven ability to use initiative to identify, investigate, prioritize, take appropriate action, and address any problems relating to attendance, enrolments, and OHS.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others.
