About the NSW Regional Rail Project

The NSW Government is investing in a major upgrade of its regional rail fleet, introducing modern trains that enhance customer travel experiences and provide safer journeys.

UGL will oversee the asset management and maintenance of this new fleet, consisting of 117 rail cars, training simulators, and a state-of-the-art maintenance facility. Our team will manage these responsibilities for an extended period.

We're seeking skilled Rail Fleet Specialists to join our team at the Mindyarra Maintenance Facility in Dubbo, NSW, on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the Role

As a Rail Fleet Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring the fleet's mobilisation, train completion tasks, and ongoing maintenance meet safety and performance standards.

  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Conducting fault-finding, diagnostics, rectifications, and post-work testing
  • Addressing damage and vandalism issues
  • Providing additional support as needed for facility and equipment maintenance
  • Sometimes working overtime to ensure service continuity and address unscheduled maintenance needs.

About You

We're looking for individuals with:

  • RIW Card
  • First Aid Training (preferred)
  • Rail maintenance experience, including fault finding, component replacement, and remote diagnostics (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Willingsness to assist in facility maintenance as needed
  • Capacity to work over a rotating 24/7 roster
