Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on risk management and compliance to the Australian business.
  • Advise on new initiatives and strategies from a risk and compliance perspective.
  • Manage the delivery of non-financial risk and compliance initiatives.
  • Analyse business practices and policies to identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and implement controls to ensure compliance with obligations.
  • Support the second line teams with day-to-day activities, including risk mitigating strategies and controls.
  • Contribute to risk and compliance reporting to relevant governance and business forums.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in risk management within Australia's financial services sector.
  • Tertiary qualification in business, law, finance, risk, or a related field.
  • Practical experience in implementing operational risk management frameworks and systems.
  • Deep knowledge of internal controls and governance.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyse business processes and risks.
  • Report writing and presentation skills to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to understand issues and highlight potential solutions.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Data analytics skills, including experience with tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
  • Experience in risk culture framework design and implementation.
  • Exposure to first line and second line roles in asset servicing, fund administration, capital markets, and cash payments operations.
  • Certification in standards such as COBIT, COSO, ISO 17799, ITIL, NIST, or CISSP.
