Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced veterinary nurse to join our team at Greencross Vet Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years' experience working as a veterinary nurse, preferably with specialty experience.


About the Role
  • Deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and clients, fostering strong relationships and trust within the community.
  • Plan and schedule daily activities to ensure seamless hospital operations, promoting efficiency and productivity.
  • Care for hospitalized patients and recovering patients after procedures, providing exceptional support during their recovery journey.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and monitor medical procedures, ensuring accuracy and precision in every step.
  • Assist with anesthesia planning, facilitation, and monitoring, collaborating closely with the Anesthesia team to provide optimal patient care.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and maintain a clean and hygienic hospital environment, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Assist with consultations and handover of patients between shifts, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication.

Requirements
  • Demonstrate strong technical nursing skills, including IV catheter placement, blood sampling, transfusions, feeding tube maintenance, central line care, endoscope setup, and care, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Showcase demonstrated knowledge of medication dosage, calculations, and administration, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Exhibit excellent anesthesia and monitoring skills, with a willingness to learn from our experienced Anesthesia team and contribute to ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain a good general nursing knowledge base and ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Possess a positive, flexible, and enthusiastic attitude, with a proven ability to problem-solve and think critically in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for providing exceptional care to animals, their owners, and referring veterinarians, building strong relationships and trust within the community.
