- Provide strategic advice and assistance on complex issues related to merger regimes, including notification requirements and enforcement.
- Identify opportunities to streamline application processes, ensuring efficiency and risk-based resource allocation.
- Support the development of policies and procedures for merger assessment, analysis, and evidence gathering, drawing on global best practices.
- Collaborate with the ACCC to refine its approach to merger consideration, including pre-notification and review.
- Evaluate impacts, financial implications, and political feasibility of policies, ensuring the Commission is equipped to make informed decisions.
- Exceptional knowledge of merger regimes globally, with a focus on best practices overseas.
- Experience in senior advisory and management roles within regulatory agencies, including international regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and persuade to promote competition.
- Deep understanding of internal workings of administrative competition regimes.
- Strong communication, advocacy, and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Senior leadership and management skills, including organisational and intellectual leadership.
- At least one year of full-time experience in a policy analyst/advisor role related to competition regulation/enforcement.
- Tertiary qualification/s in a relevant field such as Law or Economics.
The successful candidate will be appointed as an ongoing EL2 and may attract an additional allowance via an IFA depending on their skills and experience. The role offers flexible working arrangements, with the option to work from any capital city or Townsville.
