Interpreter Role

We are seeking a skilled Interpreter to join our Allied Health team, providing vital interpreting services for staff, patients, and their families. This role involves managing interpreter bookings efficiently and professionally, ensuring that culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) patients fully understand their healthcare information.

The Interpreter will educate and collaborate with hospital staff to enhance their use of interpreting services and help coordinate both internal and external interpreter bookings. Maintaining accurate records of service occasions and reporting these to the Director of Language Services is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality interpreting services to staff, patients, and their families
  • Manage interpreter bookings efficiently and professionally
  • Educate and collaborate with hospital staff to enhance their use of interpreting services
  • Maintain accurate records of service occasions and report to the Director of Language Services

Requirements:

  • NAATI Certified Interpreter certification
  • Tertiary qualifications
  • Ability to speak Mandarin and Cantonese
  • Experience working as an interpreter in a healthcare environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work
  • Ability to work as a team and with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Current drivers' licence
