About the Opportunity

Our organisation is seeking an experienced Building Consultant/Team Leader to provide expert advice on building repairs and lead a small team. The ideal candidate will have sound technical experience in building consultancy work, strong commercial and business sense, excellent client relationships and communication skills, high motivation, responsibility, sound judgement and customer focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of properties and buildings to identify defects, evaluate compliance, and identify liabilities relevant to the project
  • Provide unbiased investigations for various clients
  • Prepare detailed written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Maintain a professional service mindset through organisational learning, continuous improvement, and professional development
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant Government legislation, standards, and codes relating to building, construction processes, technologies, and materials

About You

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Technical expertise in building consultancy work (min 5+ years)
  • Strong commercial acumen and business sense
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
  • High motivation, responsibility, sound judgement and customer focus
  • Leadership experience or aspirations
  • Previous experience documenting and leading diverse projects
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced consulting environment with competing demands

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial and domestic building practices, understanding building regulations, codes, and standards
  • A genuine passion to assist in identifying and resolving site issues
  • Extensive technical building experience gained through trade or site experience
  • You are currently a licensed site supervisor/builder
  • A methodical and efficient approach to managing time
  • Well-presented, energetic, polite, and friendly attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A valid and current driver's licence
