Empowering women and children through life-changing legal support is a top priority for the provision of holistic and culturally safe legal assistance to vulnerable women in regional and remote areas.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time civil and criminal lawyer (hybrid role) based in Alice Springs or Tennant Creek, NT. This newly created hybrid position offers a unique opportunity to work across both civil and criminal legal matters.

  • Providing high-quality legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters
  • Representing clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer
  • Delivering legal support to criminalised women, particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence and systemic disadvantage
  • Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Laws and be eligible for a practising certificate in the Northern Territory. Experience in civil or criminal law is essential, and an understanding of DFV and trauma-informed practice will be highly regarded.

This is a vital role for a passionate and dedicated legal practitioner who wants to make a real difference in the lives of women and children — empowering them to live with dignity, safety, and respect.

Critical Responsibilities:

  • To provide comprehensive legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters
  • To represent clients in courts and tribunals, including as a duty lawyer
  • To deliver legal support to criminalised women, particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence and systemic disadvantage
  • To collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver wraparound services

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws
  • Practising certificate in the Northern Territory
  • Experience in civil or criminal law
  • Understanding of DFV and trauma-informed practice
