Career Medical Officer Role

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the emergency department at Shellharbour Hospital, a 197-bed acute facility that provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. As a career medical officer, you will have the chance to work with a diverse team and make a real difference in people's lives.

  • Supervise junior doctors and provide high-quality patient care under specialist supervision.
  • Participate in a rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends and work at various hospitals across ISLHD.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (nsw.gov.au).

Requirements for Success

  • A MBBS or equivalent qualification, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Five years postgraduate experience or greater, or less than five years postgraduate experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to after-hours roster commitments and rotations to other emergency departments in the ISLHD.
  • Sufficient skills knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent Emergency CMO. Postgraduate Qualifications in or relevant to Emergency Medicine or significant experience in Emergency medicine.
