About the Role

This position involves performing hospitality and kitchen duties in the Mess and Bar areas of Defence Bases. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of customer service, food preparation, and facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meeting and greeting Defence personnel with a warm and welcoming smile.
  • Cash handling and use of EFTPOS systems with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, as well as washing crockery, cutlery, and glassware.
  • Checking packaged and perishable items for best-before dates before serving.
  • Assisting with restocking, stock rotation, loading, and unloading supplies, stores, and equipment.
  • Participating in stock takes and inventory control for all kitchen supplies.
  • Ensuring compliance with the facility's HACCP program on a daily basis.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with Defence personnel.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification is essential.
  • Experience in barista work would be highly regarded.
  • A background in hospitality or catering is preferred but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Defence operations and protocols would be advantageous.
  • Driver's license and own transport are required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of online rostering systems.
