Role Overview

The Veterinary Clinical Pathology Resident program is a comprehensive training opportunity for motivated veterinarians seeking to advance their careers in veterinary diagnostics.

This intensive training program will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed as a specialist veterinary pathologist.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, developing your expertise in anatomic and clinical pathology.

The program is designed to provide a supportive learning environment, with regular case reviews and mentorship from experienced pathologists.

Training Structure
  • The first 12 months of the program will focus on general pathology training, providing exposure to both anatomic and clinical pathology.

  • After approximately two years, you will undertake phase I of the ACVP examination.

  • Upon completion of four years, you will be eligible to sit Phase II of the ACVP examination in veterinary clinical pathology.

  • The emphasis will be on companion animal pathology, with a smaller volume of production animal and exotic species cases.

  • You will have key responsibilities including laboratory benchwork, haematology film reviews, and scientist support, extending to interpretations of biochemistry, serology, urinalysis, endocrinology, and customer phone support.

  • Preparation of research or case publications will be encouraged.

  • Upon completion of the residency, you will feel well-equipped to continue as a Specialist Veterinary Pathologist, making a meaningful impact in the field of veterinary diagnostics.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be a motivated and passionate veterinarian with at least 18 months of clinical experience, eligible to work and register as a veterinarian in Australia or New Zealand.

Excellent written and spoken English is a requirement.
