About the Role

The Power Technician Secondary (Electrical Tester) will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and fault response of equipment in the field, working on the AusNet Transmission Electricity Network.

This includes Terminal and Zone substations and power distribution.

We have various depot locations across the state.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating testing activities with internal and external customers.
  • Providing diagnostic testing and maintenance services on a wide variety of electrical protection and control relays and equipment.
  • Preparing work records and reports as required, including input into databases and daily work records.
  • Complying with flexible work practices to meet system needs, including multi-skilling.
  • Ensuring that all required training and authorizations are maintained and up to date.
  • Receiving and providing on-the-job training as required.
About You

The successful candidate is required to display strong technical knowledge with experience in fault finding and maintenance of secondary systems and related power equipment.

They should hold an Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems or Diploma of Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical skills, able to draw accurate conclusions and choose appropriate actions.
  • Proactive approach to identifying critical resources needed for successful outcomes.
  • Ability to act decisively to ensure network security and public safety.
  • Positive customer and team focus, with the ability to work effectively and participate in identifying workplace change or productivity improvements.
  • Current active Australian driver's license.
