**Job Position:** Livestock Breeding Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Livestock Breeding Specialist in Meningie, South Australia.

  • Inseminate livestock for breeding purposes using advanced techniques and equipment.
  • Evaluate animal anatomy to determine optimum insemination conditions.
  • Provide expert advice on breeding selection and techniques.
  • Maintain and evaluate records of all insemination history.
  • Clean equipment to ensure sanitary breeding practices.
  • Vaccinate animals as required.
  • Handle animals with care and attention to their well-being.
  • Store semen for insemination purposes.
  • Familiarize yourself with safety protocols when handling hazardous materials, such as liquid nitrogen.
  • Monitor animals for signs of disease or stress and take appropriate action.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team to achieve pre-determined goals.
  • Attend meetings with site and section heads as scheduled by the operations manager.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Advanced knowledge in animal husbandry, welfare, legislation, dairy production, and occupational health and safety;
  • Proficiency in computer software is an asset.
