Cabrini Health is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Patient Safety to join our team. As a key member of our Quality and Patient Safety team, you will play a critical role in driving a focus on patient safety across Cabrini Health.
About the Role:- Lead the patient safety/clinical incident management system, including notification and review of adverse events, monitoring progress of reviews, and completion of open disclosure processes.
- Provide guidance for clinical service directorates and clinical managers in event review processes.
- Promote an organisational culture that allows safety issues to be openly reported, discussed, investigated, and managed.
- Provide education and support to managers and staff on incident identification and management, aiming to improve overall incident awareness and timely conduct of open disclosure.
- Oversee improvements to the clinical incident reporting system, RiskMan, and the adoption of contemporary classifications that support organisational reporting.
- Collaborate with clinical directors to conduct patient and family meetings, providing a supportive and comfortable environment for patients and families to share their experiences.
- AHPRA registration – Registered Nurse (essential).
- Post-graduate leadership or management training (preferred).
- Experience in a senior nursing position in an acute hospital setting.
- Experience leading patient safety event reviews, including liaison with impacted patients and families.
- Detailed understanding of SDC, including SAPSE reviews, sentinel event reviews, and legislative requirements.
- Working knowledge of national safety and quality health services standards, specifically the actions that relate to delivery of clinical care, patient safety, and clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of clinical incident and quality management processes, frameworks, and tools (RCA, London protocol, etc).
- Understanding of legislative and accreditation requirements within acute health services.
