Veterinary Receptionist - Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE)
  • Full-time
  • Full or Permanent part-time opportunities
  • An industry leading team based in the heart of Melbourne
  • Fully equipped hospital with modern facilities

The Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) is a multi-specialist veterinary hospital located in inner Melbourne. We are seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented veterinary receptionist to work on a permanent full-time basis.

About Us

CARE is a large 24hr multidisciplinary hospital staffed with emergency veterinarians and nurses, working alongside specialists in surgery, emergency & critical care, and internal medicine. Our core values are honesty, trust, fairness, teamwork, compassion, and a commitment to not only the highest standards of patient care but also the health, wellbeing, and career progression of our staff.

The Role

This role combines frontline hospital reception duties, administrative tasks, and telephone switchboard operations. Our veterinary receptionists must have the meticulous attention to detail required to meet CARE's high standard of client relations, record keeping, and hygiene protocols.

We are looking for a self-driven, well-presented individual who can function effectively both individually and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be composed, compassionate, and professional, capable of managing multiple competing priorities and working under pressure.

Prior experience in a customer service position is a requirement of the role, as is a background in the veterinary sector. Applicants must have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and possess a very high level of written and verbal communication. Knowledge of EzyVet practice management software and medical privacy laws would be advantageous, but not essential.

Our reception team works on a rotating roster between the following shifts:

  • 7am-5pm
  • 8am-2pm
  • 5pm-11pm
  • 1pm-11pm
  • 5pm-2am

The Opportunity

A career at CARE will provide the successful candidate:

  • The excitement and challenges that come with our interesting and varied caseload.
  • Generous remuneration commensurate with skill level and experience.
  • A friendly and welcoming team of like-minded professionals. We are a supportive family-run clinic, with an emphasis on achieving best patient outcomes.
  • A workplace community that promotes employee wellbeing, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), providing free and confidential counselling on issues of work, money, family, health, and everything in between.
  • Great staff amenities which include complimentary snacks, beverages, espresso coffee, and fresh fruit delivered weekly.
  • Discounts on a range of hospital products and services.
  • An easy commute to work, thanks to our proximity to multimodal public transport and major arterial freeways. Secure off-street staff car parking is available.
  • A centrally located workplace in one of Melbourne's most exciting lifestyle precincts.

CARE is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or age. Note, the successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police Check.
