Position Overview:
The Department of Health, Tasmania is looking for a committed Senior Respiratory Scientist to enhance our respiratory services. This role involves working within a fully equipped lung function laboratory that caters to both adult and pediatric patients.
Under the guidance of the respiratory medicine specialist, this position is well-suited for candidates with a robust background in respiratory function testing and related equipment, including arterial blood gas analysis and venepuncture. Exceptional communication skills, strong interpersonal capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight are essential attributes for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Clinical Directors in strategizing and overseeing the operations and growth of the Lung Function Laboratory, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and national accreditation requirements.
- Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care through effective laboratory operations, staff training, execution of routine and complex tests, and involvement in educational and research initiatives.
Appointment Details:
This is a fixed-term part-time position, requiring 38 hours of work per fortnight.
- Hours may be negotiable with the selected candidate.
- This selection process may also be utilized to fill similar full-time and part-time roles in the future.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $106,966 - $123,013 pro rata, per annum, with an additional employer superannuation contribution of 11.5%.
- Access to salaries exceeding $115,573 is contingent upon qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
- Salary is aligned with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement no.2 of 2022.
Employees will have access to a salary package that includes various benefits, such as living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 for meal entertainment each FBT year, among other potential benefits.
Additionally, the following allowances may be available based on the salaried incremental point:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 annually.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the essential requirement of being eligible for membership with the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Relevant experience or equivalent qualifications pertinent to the responsibilities of the role.
