About the role:


WaterNSW is seeking a talented individual to join our Operations team as a Water Monitoring Officer. This full-time role involves the operation and maintenance of water monitoring equipment, ensuring the collection and management of accurate water monitoring data.


Key responsibilities:



  • Operate and maintain water monitoring equipment to collect data on surface water and groundwater levels.
  • Process and manage hydrometric data from a large remote monitoring network.
  • Collect water samples and water quality monitoring data as requested by internal or external stakeholders.
  • Install, manage, and maintain monitoring equipment and infrastructure to prescribed standards.
  • Report on the performance of water monitoring sites and identify/resolve any issues.
  • Occasionally travel overnight to remote locations throughout NSW.
  • Contribute to the improvement of quality assurance systems and audit programs.

Requirements:



  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Water Industry Operations, Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and carry out fieldwork for prolonged periods.
  • Experience in hydrometrics, water sampling, or groundwater management.
  • Computer literacy and ability to interpret data and work with specialist databases.
  • Ability to swim 25M clothed and tread water for 2 minutes.
  • Desirable qualifications include experience using Hydstra database and current First Aid Certificate.
