Linux Engineering Leadership Opportunity

The position of Linux Engineering Manager is a demanding, problem-solving role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership acumen. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional resourcefulness, articulate communication skills, and the ability to deliver innovative solutions across diverse technology platforms.
This leadership role involves guiding an engineering team in collaboration with key partners from the silicon industry, working across the entire Linux stack to optimize Ubuntu for cutting-edge hardware and software technologies.
- Lead a distributed team of engineers to develop and implement optimized Ubuntu integrations for IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with commercial organizations to deliver seamless, high-quality Ubuntu experiences on their platforms.
- Foster team growth through coaching, mentoring, and feedback, setting a strong example for professional development.
- Oversight of commercial engagements ensures timely delivery of project milestones and adherence to strict quality standards.
- Maintenance of alignment with product architecture and roadmaps through close collaboration with other teams at Canonical.
- Proven experience with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
- Effective customer-facing skills, resolving technical issues, interpreting business needs, and communicating solution benefits.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing or leading teams of software engineers.
- Strong understanding of agile software development methodologies.
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly across multiple internal teams, building trust and driving results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technology field.
