Peer Support Specialist

This is a rewarding career opportunity for a Peer Worker with Wellways Australia Limited, a nationally recognized provider of mental health and disability services.
As a Peer Worker, you will provide peer support for individuals in The Way Back Support Service (TWBSS) and After Suicide Support Program (ASSP) through face-to-face, telephone, text, or email interactions.
Key ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities of this role include:
- Providing compassionate and non-judgmental support to individuals who have experienced suicidal ideation or attempt, suicide bereavement, or have a close connection to someone who has died by suicide.
- Empowering individuals to develop skills, confidence, and knowledge to improve their wellbeing and community connections.
- Supporting individuals to engage actively with their care team, including their Support Coordinator, to maximize the benefit they can receive from these services.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following qualities and qualifications:
- Lived experience of suicidal ideation or attempt, suicide bereavement, or having a close connection to someone who has died by suicide.
- Current valid Driver's License and the ability to undertake travel for the role.
- Appropriate IT skills.
- Satisfactory Police Check (no older than 12 months).
- NSW (Paid Worker) Working with Children Check, prior to commencement.
- Evidence of working rights within Australia, such as a passport, birth certificate, or VISA.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion certificate – free online course.
