Role Overview

The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for delivering clinical training at the ward/unit level. This includes designing and implementing in-service educational programs, assessing and demonstrating clinical procedures, and fostering a mentorship role to support the development of less experienced staff in their clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver educational programs tailored to enhance clinical competencies.
  • Act as a mentor and preceptor to junior staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning.
  • Utilize contemporary educational methodologies to motivate and engage staff in their professional development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives and adapt them to meet the evolving needs of the workforce.

Selection Criteria

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant post-registration clinical or educational qualifications and/or a current Certificate as a Workplace Trainer and Assessor or willingness to pursue certification.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant field with demonstrated knowledge of competency requirements for quality clinical care.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and coaching with the ability to foster a learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with advanced computer proficiency.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining competencies as a workplace trainer and assessor.
  • Current unrestricted driver's license and willingness to travel as required.

Occupational Health Requirements

This position is classified as Category 'A'. Compliance with NSW Health policy directives regarding occupational assessment, screening, and vaccination against specific diseases is mandatory.
