About the Firm
A prominent commercial law firm in Brisbane is on the lookout for a Special Counsel specializing in estate planning and succession law. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about delivering exceptional estate planning, self-managed superannuation, and asset protection strategies to affluent clients.
Role Overview
In this position, you will collaborate closely with a respected Partner overseeing intricate estate planning and asset protection cases. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Providing strategic advice on asset protection and succession issues
- Overseeing estate planning and succession for family trusts and SMSFs
- Managing complex asset protection cases and sustaining various asset frameworks
- Drafting Wills and planning associated documents
- Administering general and Enduring Powers of Attorney
- Navigating tax considerations in estate planning
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should be a seasoned lawyer with over 5 years of post-admission experience. The ideal candidate will have:
- In-depth knowledge of estate planning and succession law
- Experience in drafting Wills, testamentary trusts, and Enduring Powers of Attorney
- Expertise in managing family trusts and SMSFs within succession planning
- Capability to deliver strategic, commercially-oriented legal counsel
- Proven experience in mentoring junior team members
- A pragmatic and results-driven mindset
- The ability to work independently and handle competing deadlines efficiently
- General commercial legal experience is a plus
