We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Piggery Stockperson to join our client's production team in Mount Barker, WA 6324.
Job Summary:
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to take on a senior role in livestock production. As a Senior Piggery Stockperson, you will be responsible for supervising the site and facilities, maintaining quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities- Supervise the site and facilities to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Maintain and improve the Company Quality Assurance program, ensuring all relevant documentation is up-to-date.
- Collect and record data to aid stock and inventory control, and undertake specific tasks assigned by management.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
- Supervise trial sheds, collect and record data according to trial protocols, and select breeding stock and/or pigs for sale.
- Conduct daily inspections of livestock, ensuring they are properly cared for, and participate in the supervision and inspection of less experienced Stockpersons.
- Euthanize sick or injured stock humanely and conduct post-mortem examinations to identify causes of death.
- Supervise mating and birthing processes, including internal assessments of females during parturition to minimize stillbirths.
- Participate in company and industry training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices.
- AQF Certificate III (or higher/equivalent) qualification in Agriculture (Pig Production).
- At least 3 years recent experience in a medium to large commercial piggery.
- Strong communication and time management skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of animal husbandry, animal welfare, and pig production.
