The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced molecular genomics scientist to join our team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. As a key member of our Translational Genomics Program, you will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of the impact of human genetic variation on diseases at the level of individual cells.

Our program focuses on developing globally leading single-cell and genomic data cohorts to achieve a translational impact on human health. You will lead the generation of high-throughput genomics data, particularly single-cell and spatial assays, on large cohorts of clinical samples. Additionally, you will work closely with industry partners on the testing and development of early-stage technology.

As a molecular genomics scientist, you will work closely with Professor Powell and senior research staff to evaluate and implement new molecular techniques within the program. You will also contribute to the writing and authorship of scientific publications.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a BSc (Hons) or MSc in a relevant area of science and a deep understanding of genomics and molecular techniques. You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a molecular biology lab, with experience in single-cell technology or other high-throughput genomic techniques.

You will be highly organised and an excellent communicator, with the ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines. You will also have excellent written and oral communication, representation, and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
