Job Summary

As a Lead Electrical Engineer at Bechtel Corporation, you will play a key role in delivering medium to large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) projects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes, ensuring that technical issues are resolved and complex project requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct independent electrical work, requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium-sized project or assignment.
  • Provide technical input to meet procurement requirements.
  • Review and make recommendations on the electrical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering.
  • Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity, utilizing relevant engineering department procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, and Bechtel standard application programs (BSAPs).
  • Review and approve key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
  • Coordinate with client representatives to obtain their approval of electrical engineering aspects of the work.
  • Develop conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects with specialized or unique requirements.
  • Support the preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules.
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Relevant work experience in front-end engineering design (FEED), proposal, and detailed engineering, preferably in an EPC/EPCM industry for large industrial plants, power projects, utilities, oil, and gas plants.
  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computer applications within the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, or process plants is desirable.
  • Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods and of precedents in the electrical discipline and principles and practices of inter-related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and the associated costs.
  • Knowledge of application and coordination of 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) tools on a project.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to the selection of design features within the discipline.
