About the Role

Melton City Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Community Capacity team as a Diversity and Intercultural Project Officer.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement initiatives to promote cultural expression, transmission, recognition, and celebration between generations and diverse groups.
  2. Support community engagement processes to increase understanding of community needs, challenges, and aspirations.
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and associated community programs across the council.
  4. Establish and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and respond to emerging trends and strengthen the culturally specific service response in Melton.
About You
  • You will have a degree or diploma qualification relevant to the role, such as community development or social sciences, with little or no relevant work experience.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse communities and an understanding of empowerment approaches to working with disengaged and marginalized communities.
  • Experience managing community engagement processes with a commitment to a collaborative approach to community capacity development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of capacity development theory and practice, especially in relation to diverse faith, cultural, and LGBTIQA+ communities and their intersectionality.
  • A current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
