Job Overview

The Harm Reduction Worker position plays a crucial role in enhancing health, wellbeing, and inclusion among People Who Use Drugs (PWUD). This vital programme engages communities, provides support and advocacy, education, brief intervention, linkages to treatment, and referral services.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver education activities onsite and outreach-based, tailored to community needs.
  • Establish and maintain active network links to connect PWUD with welfare, support, and other community services.
  • Maintain effective networks and consultative processes to ensure optimal service delivery.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, Certificate IV or higher, with minimum two years relevant work experience.
  • Solid understanding of health and social issues affecting PWUD, including blood borne virus prevention, pharmacotherapy treatment, stigma, discrimination, and the service system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction principles as applied to PWUD, encompassing transmission and prevention of blood borne viruses.
