The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating accounting and business analysis, improvement and support to the Directorate, Branch, Team Management and the Financial Services Coordinator in accordance with organisational timeframes and requirements.

About The Role

This role is part of the Finance Branch, which is responsible for the financial management and governance of the Council, ensuring effective business management and legislative compliance. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordination of accounting and business analysis, improvement and support to the Directorate, Branch, Team Management and the Financial Services Coordinator in accordance with organisational timeframes and requirements.
  • Submission of financial reports on activities as they impact on the Corporate Plan and Council's financial reporting processes, including the production, submission and investigation of monthly financial performance reports.
  • Timely coordination and delivery of the organisation's annual budget and budget reviews, including submissions to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in a relevant discipline, preferably supported by further professional development.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Management Accountant role in a large organisation, with demonstrated experience in producing financial reports in accordance with the relevant accounting standards, performing financial analysis and providing high-level advice to management.
  • Proficiency in computer system applications, including integrated financial systems, databases, spreadsheets and personal application software.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening and consult with a wide range of people at all levels of the Council, fostering collaboration and cooperation.
