Job Opportunity for Communications Expert

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert support and maintenance services to ensure optimal performance of critical communications networks.
  • Administer and maintain Motorola P25 network management tools, including UNC, UNC Wizard, ZoneWatch, UEM, Provisioning Manager, CSS, Software Download (SWDL), CPS, and 'Functional block' understanding or the Motorola P25 core.
  • Assist in technical change management by testing changes that may impact End User Devices.
  • Escalate issues and provide support to level 3 teams as needed.
  • Perform engineering support to NOCC, L2, and field teams where required.
  • Interact with clients to resolve issues and complete support activities.
  • Lead ad hoc support, training, direction, and guidance to BAICC, Service Integrity Unit, and system maintenance and fault restoration teams.
  • Work closely with NOCC Manager, L1, and Customer Service Manager to provide high-level support and resolution of customer and network issues.
  • Evaluate systemic issues impacting operations and customers, escalating to management for further engineering support.
  • Act as Problem Manager for complex faults, investigating repeating incidents to root cause level, offering workarounds, or identifying fixes.
  • Provide instruction and guidelines to BAI staff, NSW Telco, or subcontractors as required.
  • Assist in developing work estimates and quotations for out-of-scope PSN activity and external bids.
  • Participate in minor project works from time to time.
  • Perform on-call system support for PSN L2 NOCC on a roster.
  • Travel to sites for site acceptance, issue resolution, planning, testing, and fault rectification support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in understanding protocols, standards, and interfaces allowing interoperability between core elements or between different vendors within the core of a network or between the core of a network and field devices (e.g., P25 Land Mobile standards).
  • Advanced knowledge of DC power systems and batteries.
  • Advanced analysis and fault-finding skills on a systems level.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including good communication skills and a drive for total customer satisfaction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including effective consultation and liaison skills.
  • Sound planning capability, good prioritization skills, and personal organization to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or equivalent degree.
  • Preferably 15+ years in a mobile communications systems engineering role or related roles in the telecommunication industry.
  • A current state driver's license is required.
  • Must be prepared to work away from home for short periods and work interstate.
  • This role requires on-site attendance five days a week and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.
  • Australian Citizenship is essential to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance as a condition of employment.
