Key Responsibilities:

  • Present dishes using proper plate presentation techniques to meet our restaurant's high standards.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of Taiwanese dishes, including meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetarian options, ensuring authenticity and high-quality taste.
  • Coordinate menu item completion with servers to provide efficient service and a seamless customer experience.
  • Maintain coolers and storage areas for cleanliness, ensuring the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Take regular inventory of kitchen supplies, notifying the supervisor of low or depleted stock, and ensuring adequate supplies for smooth operation.
  • Receive deliveries and verify the quality of ingredients, ensuring all items meet our standards and are stored appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, performing daily operating procedures to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure effective communication and smooth coordination of food preparation and service.
  • Develop new dishes and specials that align with our restaurant's theme to keep the menu fresh and appealing to customers.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring proper cooking techniques and safety procedures are followed.
  • Monitor portion control and manage food costs, ensuring the restaurant remains cost-efficient while maintaining high standards of food quality.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and efficient working environment, fostering teamwork and high morale in the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management, with relevant experience in managing a commercial kitchen
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Chef or similar role
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment
  • Good organizational skills for high demand of diversity of duties and staff matters
  • Strong communication, time and resource management, and planning skills
  • Pleasant, polite manner for dealing with public and staff
  • Professional, responsible, and able to work with a team of employees under constant work pressure
  • Ability to maintain employee relations, leading by example and demonstrated willingness to work in a team environment
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products
  • Understanding of food safety practices
