About the Role

We are seeking an Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team in 2025. This full-time position will work collaboratively with the Head of Campus to develop and implement effective learning and teaching programs for young people. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system in the Edmund Rice tradition.

The role involves planning, preparation, and delivery of learning and teaching programs that focus on outdoor education. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of the EREAFS objectives and planning. They will also work collaboratively with all staff to provide a safe and inclusive work environment for staff and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement effective learning and teaching programs for young people, focusing on outdoor education.
  2. Contribute to the development and implementation of the EREAFS objectives and planning.
  3. Work collaboratively with all staff to provide a safe and inclusive work environment for staff and young people.
  4. Build relationships with young people, families, and the community to ensure the best outcomes for each young person.
Key Attributes and Experience
  • Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • High-level communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Appropriate qualifications and relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, foresee potential issues, and devise appropriate responses.
  • Ability to lead, work in, and collaborate across teams with integrity and humility.
  • Tertiary qualification in teaching.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computing software, particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, and the ability to develop skills in databases.
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to current needs as they occur.
  • High organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and remain multi-task focused.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be supportive of others in the immediate work domain.
  • Hold a current driver's licence.
  • A positive NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Degree in outdoor recreation or outdoor education with recognised competency in at least four of the following areas: bushwalking navigation, mountain biking, surf coaching, snorkelling, overnight camping, paddling, cross-country skiing, remote or wilderness first aid certificate, and bronze medallion (surf).
