The Role

As a Mechanical Technician within the Utilities Engineering Department at CSL Broadmeadows, you will play a critical role in maintaining the site's mechanical systems, plant, and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the upkeep of these systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, plant, and equipment, including repairs and start-up/shut-down procedures.
  • Assist the Maintenance Engineer with planning, scheduling, and conducting major work.
  • Work on various mechanical equipment, including pumps, air handling units, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, heat exchangers, agitators, valves, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Conduct inspections and provide general maintenance solutions to improve plant equipment availability and reliability.
  • Fabricate parts as needed to address process or equipment maintenance problems using MIG, TIG, Arc, and Oxy welding.

Your Qualifications and Experience

  • Indentured qualification as a Mechanical Technician/Fitter & Turner or similar trade qualification.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fabrication, and general maintenance activities.
  • Experience with condition monitoring techniques, such as vibration analysis, oil sampling, and steam trap audits, is an advantage.
  • Commitment to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the site, including shift patterns and availability after hours.
  • Honest, autonomous, and able to utilize initiative to solve mechanical-related problems in the process and plant environment.
  • Experience working within a regulated/GMP environment and understanding of strict hygiene and traceability standards is highly regarded.
