Work Health and Safety Specialist Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Work Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.

Job Description:
  • Deliver and support Council's Work Health and Safety system through close engagement with leadership.
  • Provide WHS, injury management, and recover at work expertise, guidance, support, and education to all staff.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council's WHS system.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular WHS audits across Council.
  • Identify and facilitate strategies to improve staff safety and mitigate claims.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to influence positive outcomes, and have the ability to positively negotiate with stakeholders.

This role requires a permanent full-time appointment working 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide WHS statistics and reports as required.
  • Manage Council's workplace health surveillance.
  • Administer rehabilitation of injured workers.
  • Coordinate and facilitate WHS education, induction, and training.
Essential Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety.
  • SafeWork NSW Return to Work Coordinator accreditation.
  • Expert knowledge of WHS legislation and regulations.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and consult across all levels of management and staff.
