About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Geologist to join our team at Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will provide guidance and assistance in mining geology, drilling, sampling, and assaying procedures to ensure representative data is collected.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with site and Brisbane staff to plan and execute geology works related to mining operations and projects at a high standard.
  2. Oversee the operations 3D geological modelling and block modelling using appropriate software and review the Geostatistical analysis on resources and grade control programs.
  3. Ensure corporate QA/QC policy and procedures are followed and act as the operations custodian for QA/QC.
  4. Define and optimize required drilling/data collection for geology, geotechnical, hydrogeology, and metallurgy, working with SMEs across various disciplines to maximize value for drilling expenditure.
  5. Ensure appropriate resourcing for all aspects of drill programs, working with regional and asset exploration and geology teams to define and control drilling, logging, sampling, and assay budgets.
  6. Evaluate, support, manage, and recommend contractors and service providers for all aspects of operations and projects.
  7. Develop, train, and coach operational personnel to broaden and improve their skill base.
  8. Influence and positively contribute to the larger Harmony technical and operational teams by assisting with development and improvement of processes and procedures.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should be a highly experienced engineering professional with a relevant tertiary qualification in Geology and 8-10 years of experience covering a broad range of aspects such as exploration, production geology, and project study.

You should also have experience with mining and geological software packages, proven computer experience, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
