Career Opportunities in Legal Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled legal professional to join our team as Corporate Counsel. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that our operations are conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist legal advice and services to the organization, including on its powers, duties, and functions under relevant legislation.
  • Manage the review of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on property matters, including leases, licenses, easements, and associated issues.
  • Oversee and resolve contractual issues with suppliers that challenge our procurement terms.
  • Manage the preparation and completion of contracts for construction and other works.
  • Assist in responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and privacy complaints, and in reviewing privacy impact assessments.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in law and admission to practice as an Australian lawyer.
  • At least five years' post-admission experience, with at least three years practicing at a major law firm.
  • Expertise in drafting and interpreting commercial agreements, including leases and licenses.
  • Experience in handling privacy and FOI, and other areas of compliance.
  • Ability to provide legal advice concerning statutory interpretation, regulated businesses, and property matters.
  • Experience in managing complex litigated claims, including providing direction to external legal providers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of obligations under relevant legislation, with experience in the water industry an advantage.
