Terminal Operator Position

At a Melbourne Port Terminal, we are seeking casual terminal operators to join our workforce. As a terminal operator, you will work on a rotating roster of morning, afternoon and night shift, performing operational tasks related to grain receival, quality assurance testing, and loading of grain into containers and bulk vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tasks related to grain receival, quality assurance and loading.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with a focus on safety and teamwork.
  • Carry out general housekeeping and complete paperwork and computer data entry.
  • Work a rotating roster as a casual terminal operator.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong approach to Safety
  • High level of mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a "can do", flexible attitude
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation with a desire to learn
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Driver's license

The following skills and experience would be highly regarded:

  • Experience in grain industry or similar manufacturing/materials handling environment
  • Grain classification or relevant quality assurance experience
  • Control room operator/process plant operational experience
  • Authorised Officer for Australian Plant exports Certificate
  • MSIC certification
  • Confined Space training
  • Working at heights and confined space tickets
  • High risk licences including EWP, CN (non-slewing crane licence)
  • Experience in a laboratory or other quality control setting
