Sydney, New South Wales, Australia beBeeImmunology Full time $91,000 - $121,000
Job Title:

Senior Immunology Research Specialist

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in immunology. As a Senior Immunology Research Specialist, you will play a key role in investigating how the adaptive immune system recognizes and responds to foreign and self-antigens.

You will employ a broad suite of immunological and molecular tools, including flow cytometry, cell-culture, single-cell RNA sequencing, data analysis, and in vivo models, to interrogate B cell responses in human samples and pre-clinical systems.

Your research aims to generate mechanistic insight into immune tolerance and autoimmunity, with translational relevance to infection, vaccination, and immune-mediated disease.

This position is ideal for an early-career postdoctoral researcher with strong technical expertise, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a passion for scientific discovery.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate B cell responses in human samples and pre-clinical systems.
  • Analyze and interpret data using advanced statistical and computational techniques.
  • Develop and implement new methodologies for single-cell RNA sequencing and flow cytometry.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to design and implement research projects.
Requirements
  • PhD in immunology or a related biomedical science discipline, ideally with a focus on adaptive immune responses.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in techniques relevant to exploration of the adaptive immune response, including processing and analyzing human and/or animal samples, multi-colour flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISA, PCR, molecular cloning, and RNA sequencing workflows (e.g., single-cell or bulk).
  • High attention to detail and excellent record keeping in both laboratory notebooks and digital data management systems.
  • Ability to work independently, take scientific initiative, and drive projects forward, while also contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary and access to a plethora of UNSW perks.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Additional 3 days of leave over the Christmas period.
  • Access to lifelong learning and career development opportunities.
