Wood Machinist Apprentice

At AKD Softwoods, we're committed to developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. As a Wood Machinist Apprentice, you'll play a critical role in our sawmill operations, working alongside experienced tradespeople to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills.

The Wood Machinist Apprentice position offers a unique opportunity to learn from the best in the industry. You'll work on state-of-the-art equipment, gaining a comprehensive understanding of wood machining and the skills required to succeed in this demanding trade.

As a Wood Machinist Apprentice, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machines, including automated planers/moulders and saws. You'll also learn how to select and set up knives and cutters, align knives, and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Our apprentices work in a supportive learning environment, with access to dedicated training facilities and experienced mentors. You'll have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from small-scale production runs to large-scale multimillion-dollar projects.
